Home Down Ampney Village Hall
Welcome to the Down Ampney Village Hall website. This site provides you with all the information and details you need about the Village Hall, whether for that special “one-off” event or a regular community event.
Down Ampney Village Hall has developed a reputation as an excellent venue for a whole range of events and has achieved the prestigious Hallmark status. This recognises the range of facilities and the professional manner in which the hall is managed and run.
Our hall is proving very popular both with our village regulars and with our visitors
New booking system migration ongoing, and more help is still required urgently
The Committee is pleased to announce that a new booking system is in the process of being installed. Migration has taken longer than anticipated, and no new bookings are currently being taken, but we hope that the booking system will be reopened shortly. The main contact email address remains as previously.
However, there remain key appointments to be filled, namely Chair, Treasurer and hall manager, and for long-term viability, we must have these, and one or two additional places filled.
Private Hire - parties, weddings, anniversaries
Down Ampney Village Hall offers an unrivalled hosting venue for your club or society with a range of function rooms and facilities to cater for most needs, including a main hall, private function room, servery and lounge bar area.
Down Ampney is a vibrant community, and the Village Hall and attached Community Shop are the hub of the village. A wide range of community functions and events occur during the year, including village fairs, fêtes, BBQ's, monthly community and quiz nights. Additionally, there are seasonal events for children and families (for example, Advent workshops).
Down Ampney Village Hall has a wide range of facilities which make it an ideal venue for business meetings, seminars, conferences and training sessions. Why not contact the bookings secretary to discuss how we can configure the available facilities to suit your specific needs.

Regular Events in the Village Hall
There are all sorts of events in the hall, some you can just turn up at, others run by clubs you can join. Try exercising, dancing, shooting, short mat bowls, or even start a group yourself. Contact the Booking Manager for details.
Other Village Websites
Our Community Shop adjoins the Hall. The shop contains a post office and a cafe, and from 9 am until noon can provide drinks and snacks for meetings.
Down Ampney Village has a website with all sorts of information about the village and events.
Down Ampney Newsletter
The DA Newsletter is distributed free to every house in the village around the 1st of every month. It carries details for most events going on in the village, and advertisements for many of the regular activities going on in the hall, and can be downloaded from the Village website. A PDF copy can be found on the Village Website.
Press date for each month is around the 15th of the preceding month. The email address and phone number are published in the DA News.
Data Protection
1. When you enter this site you will not be asked for permission to hold and/or share your data because this site does not collect data, and we shall not be sending you any marketing or advertising material.
2. If you have hired, or have enquired about hiring Down Ampney Village Hall, and have provided contact details for those purposes, we shall retain those details for the purposes of managment, administration, and accounts of the hall. Such details will not be shared with any other party, and will not be used for any other purpose.
New Bookings Halted
Due to a change to the booking system, the old bookings are being manually transferred to the new software. This is proving considerably more difficult and time-consuming than expected. The bank account is also being moved to a different type of account. This is necessary to integrate with the updated booking and invoicing system. New bookings will be halted until this is completed.
New Management Committee Members Required
Your present hall committee members have served terms ranging up to 30 years, and are retiring for various reasons. Volunteers are desperately needed to fulfil the important Committee Roles necessary for the management and day-to-day operation of your Hall.
The previous committee members will maintain hall operation for all existing miscellaneous bookings, and for regular users, classes, clubs, etc. for as long as possible, but that time is running very short. The chairman has already had to step down for health reasons.
Under the constitution, management of the hall will revert to the Parish Council, which does not have the resources to manage the hall, so that ultimately, in the absence of any volunteers from the village, the hall will close.
Apologies to everyone else, but if Down Ampney villagers won’t support their hall, this consequence is inevitable.
It is really sad at this particular time, when the freehold has so recently been acquired for the village, that villagers should offer no support for the running and future development of the hall, which is widely admired. But it’s up to you, if you want your hall, you need to support it.
There are many websites with information about Down Ampney, and some are included here. Apologies if some have gone out of date.

And to reflect our military heritage from the Second World War, and the huge support given to the village by veterans of the Arnhem and D-Day operations to build our Hall in the first place, there is an annual memorial service in All Saint's Church on Sunday 17 September, or the latest prior Sunday.
